Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy responded on Monday to reports about the swearing-in of Kodandaram and Ameer Ali Khan, who were appointed as MLCs under Governor Quota. It was reported that when these two came to take oath as MLCs, the chairman of the council was not present. Gutha clarified the situation.
Gutha explained that Mahesh Kumar Goud, who was elected under MLA quota, had requested time to take oath. Gutha agreed and scheduled the oath-taking for January 31 at 3.30 pm. He instructed officials to make arrangements for the oath to be taken alongside other MLCs on the same day. However, today Kodandaram and Aamir Ali Khan came to his office without informing him.
Gutha emphasized that he will act impartially as the chairman of the council. He urged the media not to spread false information hastily. Since January 25th, he has been suffering from a sore throat, cough, and fever. On the doctor’s advice, he has not participated in any events, including the tea dinner given by the Governor on Republic Day and the All India Presiding Officers Conference in Mumbai on 27th-29th.
