The Local Military Authority (LMA) has reopened five important roads in Secunderabad Cantonment and surrounding areas. These roads had been closed since 2014, causing difficulty for commuters. The Ministry of Defence ordered the reopening of these roads on April 20, and the walls of Lakdawala Junction and Ammuguda Road were demolished on Saturday night. The reopening of these roads will benefit schools, colleges, devotees of Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Holy Trinity Church, and other commuters. It will also help to reduce congestion at Lothukunta Circle.

C.S Chandrashekar, Secretary of Federation of Northern-Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad, said that the removal of these blockades is a significant step towards easing the inconvenience faced by citizens. Jeetendra Surana, Secretary of Secunderabad Cantonments Citizens Welfare Association (SCCiWA), said that this is a partial success and they will continue to fight until all the remaining roads are opened. Madhukar Naik, CEO, SCB, said that the opening of these roads has brought relief to commuters who were struggling to commute. The Cantonment Board has requested LMA to open the roads without hindrances.
