Continuous rains over the past two days have caused problems for people living in low-lying areas in Hyderabad. The heavy rainfall has led to water stagnation, uprooted trees, damaged vehicles, overflowing manholes, and road damage.

The city has also seen many cases of vehicle breakdowns and approximately 90 trees being uprooted. As a result, traffic congestion during peak hours has significantly reduced. Main roads that are usually busy with vehicles now look deserted due to the weather conditions.

The areas worst affected by water logging are Gajularamaram, Quthbullapur, Kompally, VV Nagar, Nagole, and Uppal. Many colonies in these areas are submerged in water. Locals have been complaining that this happens every time it rains because the drainage pipelines are old and they have requested officials to lay new pipelines, but nothing has been done. In Nizampet, Bachupally, Malakpet, Somajiguda, and Karwan, the roads have turned into swimming pools. Trees have been uprooted in West Marrepally, Sitaphalmandi, and Tarnaka.

Residents of Pragathi Nagar in Kukatpally and Moosapet are facing major water logging issues. The continuous downpour has also damaged the lanes in these areas. Commuters using the Moosarambagh bridge are also struggling to cross due to the rain. The bridge was damaged last year and the government promised to renovate it within six months, but it remains in a deteriorated condition. There are concerns that the bridge may collapse if the rain continues.

Four zones of Kukatpally, Uppal, Serilingampally, and Secunderabad have received the highest amount of rainfall. Twenty-eight teams are working round the clock to address complaints of water logging, tree falls, and inundation. Water bodies are at their maximum capacity and officials have been notified. Helpline numbers have also been made available for citizens in need of assistance, according to a senior officer of GHMC.
