Hyderabad: With the recent approval of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project, people living in the northern parts of the city have begun calling for better road and rail connectivity. They are also asking for the Metro Rail to be extended all the way to Medchal.

In recent years, areas like Kompally and Medchal in Northern Hyderabad have seen a big increase in population. However, without proper road and rail links, getting around has become a challenge for many residents. Because of this, people living in Medchal have sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state government officials, asking for improvements.

The letter explains that the current transportation system is not able to meet the needs of daily commuters, leading to heavy traffic on NH44, longer travel times, and poor air quality. The residents believe it’s time to fix these problems by extending the Metro Rail as part of Phase-II. According to the members of the Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi, this would provide a more sustainable and efficient way to travel.

Sampath Reddy, a retired superintendent engineer and member of the Medchal Metro Sadhana Samithi, shared his thoughts on the issue. He said that Medchal is growing rapidly, with a large population and many businesses. A lot of people travel to and from the area every day for work, but the poor connectivity makes commuting difficult and slows down the region’s development. He added that Metro connectivity would not only make commuting easier for residents but also help boost the area’s economy. He hopes the Metro extension will be included in the second phase of the project to benefit areas like Kompally, Bowenpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Alwal, and Bollarum.
