Locals in Hyderabad are demanding a re-design of the proposed elevated skyway between Gymkhana Grounds and Hakimpet Air Force Station. They are concerned about losing their properties in the land acquisition process, as the government has already started marking the lands to be acquired. The locals are requesting the state government and Cantonment to reconsider the plan or offer adequate compensation for the land.

The proposed plan involves widening the road by 200 feet, which would result in many property owners losing their lands. Most of the land from Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) Secunderabad to Trimulgherry X Roads is privately owned. Locals are suggesting that officials reduce the road widening width from 200 ft to 150 ft to minimize the impact on property owners.

In addition to properties, the road widening may also lead to the chopping of several trees, particularly near Secunderabad Club and Gymkhana. Some of these trees are around 500 years old, and locals are recommending that they be translocated instead of being cut down. The proposed skyway includes exit and entry ramps at Karkhana, Trimulgherry, and Alwal, with approximately 1,000 property owners at risk of losing their properties.

Residents in the affected areas, such as Karkhana and Trimulgherry, are urging officials to hold a meeting with property owners before finalizing the plans. Social activist Telukunta Satish Gupta suggests that the State government and Cantonment officials provide three times compensation on the land value or reconsider the design of the skyway project.
