Hyderabad, June 20 (Namaste Telangana): The High Court has ordered reservation for transgender individuals in medical education. The petition filed by Dr. Koyyal Routh Janapal, who came to Hyderabad questioning the denial of PG medical seats under the transgender quota, was heard by Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji Dharmasana on Tuesday. The petitioner informed that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not been given the authority to make decisions on reservations, and that the government should make decisions on this matter.

The State Government stated that if the NMC provides guidelines for reservations, the State Government will make a decision accordingly. The High Court ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, whether the reservation should be provided in the SC category or the OBC category, or if reservations should be made under the transgender quota. The next hearing on this matter has been scheduled for July 20.
