A team of agricultural scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Palem, visited the fields of farmers in Ieeja mandal on Wednesday. They were joined by mandal agriculture officer Janardhan and Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) Yuva Raj and Medikonda Srikanth.

The team inspected crops like groundnut, cotton, and redgram (pigeon pea). During their visit, the scientists discovered various pest problems affecting the crops. In pigeon pea fields, they found sucking pests. In groundnut fields, they identified an infestation of tobacco caterpillars. Meanwhile, cotton crops were affected by leaf curl disease, which is caused by pests.

The scientists provided farmers with advice on how to manage these pest issues. They suggested remedies and encouraged the farmers to adopt integrated pest management practices. The goal of the visit was to help farmers take timely action to protect their crops and ensure healthy harvests.
