Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India will become a developed nation by 2047, free from corruption, casteism, and communalism. In an interview, he mentioned that India will soon be among the top three economies in the world, as evidenced by its rapid rise in global rankings over the past decade.
Modi emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts, expressing India’s commitment to supporting peace initiatives worldwide. He believes that India’s welfare model, Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, can serve as a guiding principle for shifting towards a human-centric approach. The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s role as the G20 President, stating that the world views India’s words and vision as a roadmap for the future. Africa is a top priority for India within the G20.
Taking a dig at previous governments, Modi criticized their lack of confidence in hosting major events outside of the capital. He stated that India’s progress has caught the attention of countries worldwide, who recognize it as a result of a clear roadmap of Reform, Perform, Transform.
India’s perception has evolved from being seen as a nation of hungry people to one of aspiring minds and skilled hands. Modi emphasized that India has the largest youth population globally, leading to a shift in perspectives about the country.
Regarding the pandemic response, Modi highlighted India’s measured fiscal and monetary policies, ensuring macroeconomic stability while addressing the needs of the people. He praised the digital public infrastructure for efficiently delivering assistance to the poor without leakages or delays.
Modi emphasized that India’s strong foundation enabled it to bring nations together and discuss various issues during its G20 Presidency. He stressed the importance of financial discipline, cautioning against irresponsible financial policies and populist measures that may yield short-term political gains but have long-term social and economic consequences.
Addressing objections raised by China, Modi defended India’s decision to hold G20 events in different parts of its territory, showcasing its cultural and regional diversity.
