Reports have surfaced that Y.S. Sharmila, the estranged sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, may merge her YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) with the Congress. In response, senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury has called this move political opportunism aimed at establishing Sharmila’s relevance politically.

Chowdhury warned that a merger between the Congress and YSRTP could have a negative impact on the former. She explained that political leaders often take advantage of opportunities to establish their own credentials and gain acceptance, comparing it to presenting diplomatic credentials.

Chowdhury went on to say that the Congress is like mother Ganges, where everyone comes to take a bath. She expressed skepticism about Sharmila’s sudden interest in the Congress after speaking negatively about its leaders in the past. Finally, Chowdhury dismissed reports of a potential merger as mere rumors.
