In Nalgonda, supporters of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy are planning to build a temple dedicated to him in Chityal mandal. The foundation ceremony is set for March 19, with Revanth Reddy’s statue as the main focus of worship.
Medi Santhosh, the State President of the Reddy Fans Association, confirmed the plan and mentioned that preparations are underway for the foundation stone laying ceremony. The event will be led by Bhongir MP ticket aspirant Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy. This initiative has generated discussions in the Nalgonda district as constructing a temple for a living political figure is a unique concept.
Describing Revanth Reddy as a figure accessible to the masses like a deity, Santhosh explained that this sentiment prompted them to build a temple for him. Some individuals have criticized this idea, stating that it undermines democracy.
In 2018, a constable built a temple for former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in Nagarjuna Sagar constituency. This trend of constructing temples for living political figures began in Tamil Nadu and has now reached Telangana.
