    The India U-17 soccer team played a tough practice match against Real Madrid U17 in Madrid on May 3, 2023. India is in Spain for a series of practice matches to prepare for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 in Thailand in June. The match ended in a 3-3 draw.

    Madrid scored first in the 37th minute, but India quickly tied it up one minute later thanks to Shashwat’s goal off a cross from captain Korou. India took the lead three minutes after halftime with a goal from Ralte. Madrid scored two goals in quick succession (52’, 69’) to take the lead, but Gangte’s goal in the 90th minute, off a Korou cross, brought the score level.

    Throughout the match, India created several attacking opportunities. In the 14th minute, Shashwat’s shot was cleared by Madrid’s Borja inside the 6-yard box. Ralte and Ricky also looked lively throughout the first half and weaved their way past defenders to create chances.

    India had the best chance to take the lead when the score was 2-2, but Shashwat’s rebound shot from a free-kick hit the crossbar. The starting XI for India was Sahil (GK); Ricky Meetei Haobam, Surajkumar Singh, Mukul Panwar (Pramveer 75’), Malemngamba Thokchom, Danny Meitei (AkashTirkey 75’), Gurnaj Singh, Lalpekhlua (Gogocha Chungkham 75’), Korou Singh Thingujam, Vanlalpeka Guite (Omang 85’), Shashwat Panwar (Gangte 75).

    The match was a valuable experience for the Indian U-17 team as they continue to prepare for the upcoming Asian Cup.
