Farmers in Gadwal are facing delays in receiving their promised loan waivers due to minor technical problems. The loan waiver, which was supposed to provide relief of up to ₹2 lakh, has not been fully implemented for many farmers.
Ranjith Kumar, the District Chairman of the Nadigadda Rights Struggle Committee, expressed his frustration during a press conference held at the district office. He accused the government of using technical issues as an excuse to avoid completing the loan waiver. He also criticized the authorities for not delivering on their promise of providing Rythu Bharosa, a financial support scheme, by Dussehra.
Ranjith Kumar shared that when his committee tried to submit a memorandum to BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar during the minister’s visit to the Jogulamba Gadwal district, they were unlawfully arrested. Despite this, the minister claimed in a public meeting that the loan waiver had been fully implemented, which Ranjith Kumar says is misleading.
The committee is now working to gather details of farmers who have not received the loan waivers. These details will be submitted to the District Collector to bring the issue to the government’s attention as soon as possible.
During the press conference, Ranjith Kumar demanded that the technical issues preventing the loan waiver be resolved immediately. He also urged the ruling party leaders to take up the matter with the Chief Minister to ensure that the promises made to farmers are honored.
Several other leaders were present at the meeting, including Convener Buchibabu and leaders Srinivas Yadav, Rangaswami, Prem Raj, Sarvesh, and Karthik.
