The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the Modi government for the Jahan Jhuggi Wahin Makan scheme. AAP MLA Rajesh Gupta claimed that this scheme was designed to harass and impoverish the poor, forcing them to leave Delhi. Gupta mentioned specific instances in the Wazirpur constituency where the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) unjustly rejected allottees using fraudulent tactics. Despite sending several letters to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and DDA, there has been no response. Additionally, community toilets used by Jhuggi inhabitants were demolished before the flats were built.

Gupta criticized the Central Government for demanding Rs. 1,76,400 from eligible flat recipients, arguing that these individuals could not afford such a sum. He also requested that the DDA offer loans to support these people, but they ignored his request. Private companies took advantage of the situation and offered loans at a high interest rate of 12% to these vulnerable individuals.

Furthermore, poor and illiterate individuals without regular employment are being denied loans under the assumption that they cannot repay them. The MLA alleged that this was a deliberate act. The overall plan is to demolish these Jhuggis and replace them with large building complexes, while various dealers and middlemen exploit the dire situation of these people. The ultimate goal is to force the poor to leave Delhi after taking away their hard-earned flats, which they obtained through years of hard work.

Gupta expressed his dissatisfaction with the Modi government, stating that this scheme revealed the true intentions behind their slogan of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (Development for All).
