Several minority hostels in Rangareddy district have become haunted houses as students are not choosing to stay there due to the lack of proper facilities. One of these hostels, the Minorities Hostel for Boys Rajendra Nagar, was established almost sixteen years ago but now has empty rooms, no kitchen facility, and no boundary wall or sanitary arrangements. The hostel was completed in 2018 with a fund of over Rs 2.10 crore from the State and Central government. It has a total of 31 rooms, but only 10 are occupied. There is also no kitchen facility, forcing students to arrange food from outside or cook on their own. The hostel also lacks bus facilities nearby. Previously, when the hostel was located in Langer House area, there were more students staying there. However, after it moved to Rajendra Nagar, the number of students dropped significantly. The hostel also has conflicting information about its approval and inauguration dates. Additionally, the facility is being used to store ballot boxes during elections. The former collector’s visit did not help improve the hostel’s condition.
