Hyderabad: Telangana Raj Bhavan has been lit up in pink to mark International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the fifth year in a row that the Raj Bhavan has been illuminated in pink, thanks to the efforts of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation. The event took place on Thursday.
Before the illumination on Wednesday, Jishnu Dev Varma, the Governor of Telangana, met with Dr. P Raghu Ram, the founder and CEO of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation. During this meeting, the Governor expressed his condolences for the passing of Dr. Ushalakshmi, the foundation’s Founder Chairman and inspiration.
Hyderabad holds a unique place in the world for its dedication to breast cancer awareness. For over 15 years, many historic monuments and prominent buildings in the city have been lit up in pink for one night. Earlier this month, several iconic landmarks such as the Charminar, Buddha Statue, T-Hub, Prasads IMAX, Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, and KIMS Hospital were also illuminated in pink.
