A cyclonic circulation has formed over the westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal. It is expected to become a low pressure area in the next 24 hours. This will lead to increased rainfall in Odisha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Odisha. These districts are Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Balangir.

The Met office has forecasted heavy rainfall across Odisha until July 28 due to the possible low pressure area. The intensity of rainfall will increase starting from Tuesday.

According to the IMD, there will be light to moderate rain or thundershowers in most parts of south interior districts and many places in the rest of Odisha. Koraput district in south interior Odisha may experience heavy rainfall.

The IMD has also warned about squally weather and gusty surface winds along the Odisha coast and northwest adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal from July 25 to 27. Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea during this time.

The Special Relief Commissioner has urged all district collectors to be on alert, especially in the districts that have been issued a yellow warning by the IMD.
