Hyderabad, July 5 (Namaste Telangana): Kalleshwaram project floods are wreaking havoc. With the aim of supplying water to SRSP reservoir, the floodwaters are flowing from the lower side to the upper side. On Wednesday, the floodwaters from Kalleshwaram entered the Varad canal. Currently, the canal is overflowing. Water is being diverted from the Laxmi Pampahouse to the Saraswati and Parvathi Pampahouses, and then to the Ellampalli reservoir.

From there, through tunnels, water is being diverted from Nandimedaram and Gayatri Pampahouses to Varadakaluva and Jalaalalakunta. The Varad canal has a total capacity of 1.5 TMC, out of which it is currently carrying 122 kilometers of excess water. This excess water is being diverted to SRSP through Kalleshwaram floodwaters. Officials are working towards maintaining the water level in the canal. Additionally, water is also being released from Rajarajeshwara reservoir to Annapurna and from there to Ranganayak Sagar through Kalleshwaram floodwaters. Water is flowing into the fields through floodgates.
