Farmers in the Warangal district are facing tough times due to unseasonal rains, hailstorms, and high winds. These weather conditions have caused damage to standing crops and also drenched paddy shifted to procurement centres. Farmers have also faced losses as rains washed away the produce harvested on drying platforms. Some farmers have been waiting with their produce at procurement centres for officials to commence purchase, but the paddy got soaked in rainwater after harvesting and the government did not start purchasing. Input costs have increased, and pest attacks led to low yields this season.

Some farmers have lost their entire maize crops due to untimely rains and hailstorms. Although the Chief Minister visited a village in March and announced compensation, farmers have not received any relief from the government. The All India Kisan Federation Telangana general secretary demanded that the government start purchasing paddy immediately, as none of the 191 procurement centres in the Warangal district have commenced paddy purchase.
