The Congress party won the state election in Karnataka, according to leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that the five guarantees made by the party will be implemented within hours of the first Cabinet meeting. These are 200 units of free power to all households, Rs 2,000 monthly assistance to the woman head of every family, 10 kg of rice free to every member of a BPL household, Rs 3,000 every month for unemployed graduate youth and Rs 1,500 for unemployed diploma holders for two years and free travel for women in public transport buses.

The former Congress president thanked the people of the state for helping the party come to power. He said that Congress came to power for only one reason and that is the party’s decision to stand by the poor, the weak, the backward and the Dalit. He added that the BJP had money, power and everything but the people of Karnataka defeated all of it.
