Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended a public meeting in Adilabad along with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, minister Seetakka, and party candidate Aatram Suguna.
Rahul Gandhi warned that the BJP, if elected again, would try to change the Constitution of India. He emphasized the importance of the Constitution in providing reservations for BCs, SCs, STs, and OBCs, and stated that the Congress would not allow any changes to be made to it.
He criticized the Modi-led BJP government for attempting to reduce reservations by privatizing PSUs and introducing the concept of Agniveer. Rahul promised that if the Congress came to power, they would remove the 50% cap on reservations and ensure reservations in all contract jobs.
Inspired by successful schemes in Telangana, the AICC planned to provide Rs 1 lakh per year to women in poor families. Rahul also pledged job guarantees and a stipend of Rs 1 lakh to ensure a well-trained workforce.
Rahul Gandhi addressed concerns about media bias towards the BJP, highlighting the need to promote Congress initiatives like loan waivers and MGNREGA. He criticized the media for praising the government’s debt waivers for millionaires while neglecting important welfare programs.
During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi mistakenly attributed the Constitution of India to Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, and Ambedkar. This sparked debate as Mahatma Gandhi was not directly involved in drafting the Constitution, which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949 and came into effect in 1950.
