The admission season in government schools in Hyderabad is seeing a good response this year compared to last year. Many government schools in the city, including those in Old City, Yakutpura, Shalibanda, Masab Tank, Nampally, Raj Bhavan Road, Borabanda, Mudfort, and Quthbullapur, are receiving an influx of applications.

For example, the Government High School in Yakutpura has a capacity of 250 students but has received around 400 applications. Most of the new admissions are from budget private schools where fees have increased to Rs 20,000. The majority of applications are for Classes I to V and VI to VIII.

Teachers at various government schools like Government Girls High School in Masab Tank and Government High School in Yakutpura have noted an increase in applications. The schools are planning to accommodate the higher number of students by conducting classes in multiple sections.

Many government schools have seen a rise in admissions this year due to improved infrastructure facilities like libraries, digital classrooms, and better seating arrangements. The increase in admissions is attributed to the free education provided by government schools, especially as private school fees have risen.

Overall, the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TSUTF) has observed a positive response in both districts and the city this year. The affordability of government schools in contrast to private schools with higher fees is driving more students to opt for government education.
