Indian students aiming for higher education abroad should be cautious and well-prepared to avoid scams and pitfalls. According to Shilpi Mishra, North America Head for Mercy University, students seeking admission in the United States or other foreign universities should thoroughly research and seek professional assistance from expert advisors.
During a meet and greet in Hyderabad, Mishra advised students to focus on streamlining their application process and improving their English language and soft skills before reapplying for higher education. Insufficient groundwork can lead to severe obstacles and even denial of admission.
Andy Burfitt, Global Director of Mercy University, and Sangeeta Goel, CEO of Sanwariya Edu Consultants, were also present at the event. The university has partnered with Oxford International Education Group to provide digital and English language courses for aspiring students.
Mishra mentioned that within the first three months of their expansion in Hyderabad, Mercy University has received over 150 applications. The university, founded in 1950 and located in New York, is home to 12,000 students from 54 countries. It currently has around 100 students from India studying across its five different schools.
Andy Burfitt, Global Sales Director – North America, highlighted the wide array of fields that students can choose from at Mercy University, including Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) options. He also mentioned that programs like Cyber-Security offer lucrative career opportunities with an average salary of $122,000 USD.
