The Congress party is preparing for the Lok Sabha elections and is claiming that there were irregularities in the construction of irrigation projects, causing financial losses. They have previously alleged corruption and design faults in projects like Kaleshwaram, Medigadda, and Annaram. The government has also mentioned this in a recent white paper.

To further investigate these claims, some ministers will embark on a ‘Project Yatra’ to examine the design faults and allegations, as well as evaluate the construction agencies’ claims. The ministers visiting the Medigadda barrage will be accompanied by senior irrigation officials and L&T representatives. They will also visit Annaram and Sundilla pumphouses.

Initially, the government planned to present a power point presentation on the irrigation projects during the Assembly session. However, it has now been decided to make the presentation after conducting a thorough study of the projects and visiting the sites. This presentation will be an important issue during the Congress’ campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, a team of engineering officials will visit other ongoing projects and submit a status report to the government.
