    Professor B R Shamanna from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Hyderabad has been invited to be a “Professor of Eminence” at the Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research in Kolar, Karnataka. This invitation was extended during the university’s academic council meeting in September 2023.

    As a “Professor of Eminence,” Prof Shamanna will provide guidance to improve the standards of academics, research, and patient care for the university and its component institutions. This opportunity holds special significance for Prof Shamanna, as he was born and raised in Kolar district and completed his Pre-University education there. He sees this as a chance to give back to his hometown.

    Interestingly, Prof Shamanna previously worked as a tutor in the Department of Social & Preventive Medicine, where he played a significant role in establishing teaching and outreach programs. This department has now grown into an esteemed deemed university.
