AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi was supposed to attend a public meeting in Chevella on Tuesday, but it seems like she won’t be able to make it. Instead, she is expected to virtually launch two schemes – a Rs 500 gas cylinder and free power up to 200 units. If Priyanka is not available for this, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will announce the schemes.
Party sources say that Priyanka is busy with important responsibilities in the party and the INDIA Alliance, working on strengthening political alliances. Her absence in northern India could have consequences, so she will be skipping the public meeting in Chevella.
Revanth Reddy is determined to prove his party rivals wrong by launching the Mahalakshmi and Gruha Jyothi schemes. The Mahalakshmi scheme already includes free travel in RTC buses and the Cheyutha component offers Rs 10 lakh coverage under the Rajiv Arogyasri Insurance.
The Congress is highlighting the success of these schemes, especially the free bus travel for women, to showcase their achievements. By launching two more schemes, they claim to be fulfilling a significant part of the six guarantees promised by the government, announced by Sonia Gandhi before the Assembly polls.
