Members of the British Royal Family, including King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, arrived at Westminster Abbey in London. In an interview with Canada’s CBC News, Princess Anne defended the monarchy and said she doesn’t think a “slimmed-down” version is a good idea. King Charles III reportedly wants to reduce the monarchy to just seven senior working royals, but Princess Anne believes the Royal Family provides “long-term stability,” “continuity,” and “goodness” to the UK and Commonwealth.

Princess Anne also praised her brother, King Charles III, for his commitment to the monarchy. She said he has been practicing for years and won’t change. The royal family has gone through many changes in recent years, including the deaths of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to quit as working royals. Moreover, Prince Andrew has stepped down from public life after his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.

Princess Anne is often referred to as the “hardest-working royal” due to her high number of engagements each year. In 2022, she attended 214 engagements compared to Charles’s 181. The line of succession on the British Royal Family’s website shows the 22 highest-ranking members of the family, but King Charles III plans to reduce the monarchy to just seven key members who are senior working royals.
