Hyderabad: Hundreds of hereditary archakas from various parts of Telangana gathered to discuss their long-standing demands. One of their main demands is the implementation of the amended legislation 30 of 87.
This legislation restores the hereditary rights of service to the deities. The Telangana Inamdar Archaka Samakhya organized the meeting and invited archakas from major temples where the hereditary system is practiced.
A Atreya Babu, president of AP Archaka Samakhya, explained how the Amended Act was implemented through GO Ms 439 in 2019.
Speakers at the meeting praised Dr. MV Soundararajan for his efforts to amend the old endowments legislation of 30/87. C S Rangarajan shared details about their meetings with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and the promises made regarding the implementation.
They have prepared a draft Government Order (GO) with specific requirements for the Telangana region. This draft will be submitted to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy soon.
An adhoc committee has been formed to work on fulfilling the demands of Inamdar Archakas. These demands include restoring their names in the enjoyer columns of pattadar pass books and making them eligible for Rythu Bandhu, among others.
