A free dialysis center in Masjid Mohammadia, managed by Helping Hand Foundation and SEED-USA, has provided 4758 free dialysis treatments to about 100 patients of different faiths, castes, and creeds in the past year. The center is run by a team of 10 Hindu staff members, including dialysis technicians, nurses, paramedics, and housekeeping staff.
The center was established last year in July and has 10 donated dialysis machines. It has provided close to 5000 free dialysis treatments, saving patients from marginalized backgrounds at least Rs 1.5 crores.
During the first anniversary function, C S Rangarajan, Chief Priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, praised the center as an example of interfaith harmony and encouraged others to follow its model.
B Venkatesh, Chief Technician at the center, expressed his comfort and satisfaction with working at the center, citing the humanitarian values of Helping Hand Foundation.
Notably, there have been no deaths or cross infections at the center, which is usually a risk for dialysis patients if proper hygiene and sterilization are not maintained.
The goal of the center is to provide high-quality dialysis care at no cost to the patient, resulting in a collective savings of Rs 1.5 crores for the financially and emotionally stressed patients.
The center has also served medical tourists from abroad and has two patients lined up for renal transplants who were previously undergoing dialysis at the center.
Additionally, the center announced that they will provide counseling for chronic kidney disease patients on palliative nephrology to help them cope with stress, lifestyle changes, and diet for better day-to-day functioning.
