Former prime ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda will not be attending the G20 dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu due to health reasons. Many former prime ministers and chief ministers, including those from opposition-ruled states, have been invited to the dinner. Singh and Deve Gowda have informed the central government about their inability to attend. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has confirmed her presence at the event. It is also likely that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will attend. There are reports suggesting that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may also be present.
Banerjee will be travelling to New Delhi on Friday to attend the G20 dinner. During her stay in the national capital, she will also meet leaders of different political parties. However, the chief ministers of Congress-ruled states of Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan are unlikely to attend. There is no confirmation available about the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is also not attending the President’s G20 dinner, according to sources. President Murmu will host the dinner on Saturday at Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the G20 summit.
