    President Droupadi Murmu Advocates for Self-Reliance in Defence Production

    President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the need for India to focus on manufacturing advanced defence equipment within the country. She made this statement during her speech at the ceremony for the presentation of the President’s Colours to the College of Defence Management (CDM) in Secunderabad on Friday. According to the President, the time is right for India to enter a new phase of self-reliance in defence production.

    As part of the event, the President unveiled a ‘Special Day Cover’ and a commemorative medallion to mark the occasion. She also released a revised edition of the book Pearls of Ancient Indian Wisdom, which is a compilation of ancient Indian strategic thought.

    In her speech, President Murmu highlighted the importance of strengthening India’s defence management capabilities. She said this would not only bolster the country’s diplomatic and military partnerships but also increase defence exports. She stressed that advancements in technology have a significant impact on national security.

    The President spoke about the role of emerging technologies in modern warfare. “Traditional methods of warfare are being challenged by new technologies and strategic partnerships,” she said. India is prioritizing the integration of artificial intelligence, drones, cyber warfare, and space defence technologies to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in its defence systems. She noted that institutions like the College of Defence Management play a critical role in this transformation.

    President Murmu also pointed out that India’s focus on self-reliance, technological innovation, and global partnerships is not just about securing its borders. She said it also contributes to global peace and stability in an era marked by hybrid and grey zone warfare.
