The Telangana government has decided to rename Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. A bill for this change was presented in the Assembly on Saturday. Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha introduced the bill on behalf of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Once the bill is passed, the university will be named after Suravaram Pratap Reddy. The decision comes as Telangana completes 10 years since the state’s formation. The Congress government believes the current name is more associated with the cause of a united Andhra Pradesh.
By renaming the university, the government aims to give it a stronger Telangana identity. Additionally, the institution will now be used exclusively for students from Telangana.
