Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar recently reviewed the development works of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. He directed officials to complete the Smart City projects quickly. The Minister, along with Manakondur MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana, held a meeting at the Collectorate on Tuesday. District Collector Pamela Satpathy and Additional Collector of Local Bodies Praful Desai were also present.
During the meeting, Minister Prabhakar mentioned that there is a vigilance investigation underway regarding Smart City projects in some areas. He highlighted issues such as the dump yard causing problems for residents and instructed the District Collector to find a permanent solution. The Minister also ordered officials to gather information on illegal constructions on government lands and buildings constructed without permission.
Prabhakar emphasized the importance of resolving issues in the Karimnagar Corporation promptly. He stressed the need for quality work that benefits the public, and urged timely payment to contractors upon completion of projects. The Minister also instructed to halt payments to those who did not finish their work. Ensuring smooth drinking water supply and timely tax collection from big companies and malls were also discussed.
Other topics covered in the meeting included re-verifying works under general funds, expediting the completion of Manair River Front, and setting up WiFi hotspots across the city. The installation of a statue of former MP Juvvadi Chokka Rao and conducting weekly department reviews were also on the agenda. The Minister warned of strict action against negligent municipal officials.
RDO K Maheshwar, Municipal Commissioner B Srinivas, and other municipal officials were present at the meeting to discuss these important matters.
