Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the caste census survey has become a model for all states in India. He explained that the survey will be conducted from February 16 to 28 for those who missed providing information earlier. He clarified that this is not a re-survey, as claimed by BRS leaders.

Ponnam also announced that a special assembly session will be held to discuss giving 42 percent reservation to BCs in local bodies. He urged top BRS leaders to participate in the survey to prove their sincerity.

Criticizing the BJP, he called it a party of businessmen and accused it of opposing the caste census and reservations for BCs and SCs. He emphasized that reservations in Telangana should reflect the people’s needs and that local body elections would only be held after the survey. He also said that if leaders truly cared about weaker sections, the Legislative Assembly should not block the bill.
