State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar criticized BRS leaders for protesting against the suspension of BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy from the Assembly. He called their actions absurd and unjustified.

Prabhakar pointed out that those who previously disregarded democratic values are now calling the suspension undemocratic. He stressed that the BRS party should have a basic understanding of democracy. While they know the proper way to behave in the Assembly, their deliberate misconduct suggests bad intentions, which people are noticing.

The Minister also mentioned that both Houses of the Legislature follow established traditions and protocols. He accused the Opposition of making reckless comments about the Speaker just because he is a Dalit leader. He reminded everyone that when the BRS was in power, they threw papers at the Chairman of the Legislative Council and suspended Opposition members, yet they never questioned democracy at that time.

Prabhakar explained that while the Chief Minister leads democracy in the Legislative Houses, the Speaker is the head of the Assembly. He strongly condemned the statement – “The Assembly does not belong to you alone” – directed at the Speaker, saying it was a violation of Parliamentary rights. He also expressed disappointment that the BRS leadership did not acknowledge that Jagadish Reddy’s remarks were wrong.
