Government Open to Suggestions on Caste Survey: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar
Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has assured the Backward Classes (BCs) that the government is open to suggestions regarding the caste survey and will address all concerns. He clarified that any doubts about the survey would be resolved.
On Saturday, the minister held a meeting at the Secretariat with representatives of BC associations, intellectuals, and Government Advisor K Kesava Rao. During the discussion, he emphasized the importance of the caste survey and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social justice. He also assured that the government would consider suggestions to ensure fairness for underprivileged communities.
Ponnam explained that the survey data would be used to implement various welfare schemes. He also promised that a political quota for BCs would be introduced, starting from the upcoming local body elections.
He criticized the BJP-led central government and the previous BRS government in Telangana for failing to conduct a caste census. He alleged that instead of working for social justice, they were now criticizing the Congress government, which is conducting the survey transparently.
The meeting was attended by MPs, MLAs, former MPs, members of the BC Commission, and leaders of BC associations.
