    Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has instructed senior officials from various departments to be prepared for any situations that may arise during the monsoon season. He emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures in advance to avoid inconvenience for citizens.

    During a meeting on Wednesday, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, deputy mayor Mothe Srilata Shobhan Reddy, and GHMC commissioner in-charge Amrapali Kata discussed the GHMC Monsoon Preparation Action Plan. They also talked about sanitation, veterinary, food safety, and arrangements for the upcoming Bakrid festival.

    Amrapali informed the Minister about the ongoing Monsoon preparation action plan under GHMC limits, which has been progressing for some time. Steps have been taken to address water logging issues by clearing silt from storm water lanes, with 141 major water logging points identified and being worked on.

    Mobile emergency teams have been established to operate 24/7, with a focus on nala safety audits to prevent accidents. Nodal officers have been appointed for each area, and proposals for construction of bunds and boundary walls in 12 locations within GHMC have been made.

    Minister Ponnam stressed the importance of preventing loss of life and property during rains, emphasizing the need for regular desilting of nalas and educating the public against dumping garbage. He also called for smooth sanitation management and hygienic food practices in restaurants and hotels.

    Officials have been directed to make arrangements for the upcoming Bakrid festival, ensuring a safe and smooth experience for everyone involved.
