Hyderabad: The Information and Public Relations Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has promised to hold a meeting on January 16th to discuss welfare measures and housing for journalists. A group of journalists, led by IJU secretary Y Narender Reddy and TWJ vice-president K Ramnarayan, met with the minister to discuss these issues.

During the meeting, Reddy stated that he has instructed the collectors of all 33 districts to gather information on housing for journalists. This includes gathering details on previous government policies, places that have been given to journalists, places that have not been acquired, and suitable places for future allocation.

The delegation highlighted the fact that many journalists in district/mandal centers and Hyderabad have not been provided with house plots for the past twenty years. They specifically mentioned the unresolved case of the Jawahar Lal Nehru Journalists’ Housing Society. The minister acknowledged these concerns and assured the delegation that he will discuss the matter with the Chief Minister in order to find a solution.
