Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured farmers that the government will purchase every grain of paddy they grow at the support price. He made this announcement during a cheque distribution event at the Kusumanchi Mandal Tehsildar office on Saturday.

Speaking directly to the farmers, Ponguleti told them not to worry about selling their crops. He said the government, following the welfare policies of “Indiramma Rajyam,” will buy all paddy at the support price. He also mentioned that there will be a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for thinner varieties of paddy.

Ponguleti took the opportunity to criticise past governments, saying they did not support the agricultural sector. He said the current government is different and is committed to helping farmers, women, and economically weaker sections of society.

The Minister also reminded the audience of the government’s promises to farmers. He said that so far, loans worth Rs 18,000 crore have been waived for farmers who owed up to two lakh rupees. Another Rs 13,000 crore in loan waivers will be completed by December.

He also mentioned that exams for Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 positions have been conducted, and appointment orders are expected by December.

At the event, 61 beneficiaries of the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes received cheques totaling Rs 61,07,076. The Minister also handed over land titles for house sites to Sheikh Yusuf and Sheikh Sharif, whose parents, Sheikh Yakub and Saidabi, lost their lives in recent floods in Nayakan Gudem village, Kusumanchi Mandal.
