The Assembly elections in Telangana in 2023 will focus on the use of social media platforms for campaigning. All political parties are preparing to generate engaging content and videos to criticize their opponents and promote their own achievements and promises. Parties have formed special IT teams and hired creative content creators to run social media campaigns, spending large amounts of money. They have also encouraged candidates to use social media extensively to influence voters and gain support. BRS has created numerous social media groups at various levels for campaigns on Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp. Young leaders have been assigned to create content to counter opposition parties. Another team is monitoring information on social media platforms and informing party leaders for counter strategies. The pink party has created two groups of leaders to counter the BJP’s claims and the Congress party’s campaign on social media and physical campaigns. BRS working president KT Rama Rao is overseeing the state-level social media groups. In the 2018 elections, BRS used social media extensively, but this time they are strengthening their efforts and developing new strategies. The Congress party’s social media team is led by strategist Sunil Kanugolu, who focuses on corruption and government failures. The BJP’s media teams are also busy creating video and text content against BRS and Congress, emphasizing the need for a “double engine Sarkar.” Senior leaders like Bandi Sanjay, E Rajendar, and D Arvind are part of the monitoring and strategy team for social media groups.
