The Home Minister of Telangana, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, has asked the police to protect farmers from people selling fake seeds. He held a video conference with police officers from all districts and said that the police should work with the Agriculture Department and intelligence personnel to gather information and take strict action against those selling fake seeds. The Chief Minister of Telangana is continuing to provide benefits for farmers, such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and agricultural loan waivers. The police have already registered 986 cases against fake seed sales and arrested 1938 people, but the Home Minister says that they need to continue being vigilant to completely stop the problem.
The State DGP Anjani Kumar gave instructions to police officers to completely root out the problem of spurious seeds. They were also advised to be vigilant against those smuggling liquor from other states. Other police officers participated in the conference.
