The Cyberabad police in Hyderabad have clarified that the ‘Sunburn music festival’ on New Year’s Eve does not have permission to take place. The police have registered a case against the ticket portal, ‘Book My Show’, for allegedly selling tickets for the event without seeking permission. The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, has directed the Cyberabad police commissioner to investigate the sale of tickets by Book My Show for the festival. The commissioner has confirmed that permission has not been granted for the event.

The organisers of the festival had requested permission, but it was denied by the police following the Chief Minister’s instructions not to allow such events. However, tickets were still being sold on Book My Show for the event scheduled on December 31 near HITEC City in Madhapur. The Additional DCP of Madhapur, Narsimha Reddy, has stated that action will be taken against organisers who fail to prevent any illegal activities during New Year events at their premises.

The police are closely monitoring the events and all programs must end by 1 am. Those planning to organise New Year events must obtain permission from the police. If events are being held in gated communities, permission is also required to use sound systems, which can be granted by the ACP. Officials have been instructed to be vigilant and ensure that drugs are not consumed at these parties on New Year’s Eve. The Chief Minister has specifically instructed that these events should not be seen as revenue earners.
