Hyderabad: The city police successfully rescued a one-year-old girl and arrested a 29-year-old woman within 12 hours of the kidnapping.
The woman, identified as Dasari Manjula, is a beggar who lives on the footpath near the Kamareddy bus stand. After the kidnapping, the police quickly formed six special teams and managed to find the child near Dabeerpura railway station.
The incident began when the Kacheguda police received a complaint at 2 am from the girl’s grandmother. She reported that her granddaughter was taken by an unknown person from Kacheguda railway station. The police immediately registered a kidnapping case and started their search operation.
The special teams reviewed around 60 CCTV footages from the route between Kacheguda station and Dabeerpura station. This led them to identify and arrest Manjula.
According to the police, Manjula had come to Kacheguda station two months ago and stayed on the footpath with the complainant’s daughter, Mamatha. During this time, Mamatha had a fight with Manjula, assaulted her, and took Rs 1,500 from her.
Holding a grudge, Manjula, along with her sister’s husband Munna, decided to kidnap Mamatha’s one-year-old daughter. They took the child from Kacheguda station, traveled to the Osmania Hospital area in an auto, and then disappeared to Dabeerpura station. Their plan was to take the child to Kamareddy to harm her as an act of revenge against Mamatha.
