Background of the Suspects
The first suspect, Challuri Nagavenkata Krishnaveni alias Devi (39), hails from Pinaripalem village in Narsipatnam Mandal, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. She previously worked as a daily wage laborer but turned to drug transportation for money due to financial difficulties. Krishnaveni has a history of involvement in marijuana smuggling and has previously served jail time in Andhra Pradesh.
The second suspect, Adduri Prasad (29), is an auto driver from Kothakota village in Ravikamatham Mandal, Anakapalli district. He had known Krishnaveni through their shared involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The third suspect, Kimudu Prashanth (25), is also an auto driver from Peddapeta village in Koyyuru Mandal, Anakapalli district. He is a friend of Adduri Prasad, and together, the three were engaged in transporting marijuana to different locations for profit.
Details of the Transportation Plan
The suspects purchased 14 kilograms of marijuana from their supplier, Muttem Prasad, a resident of Sarrai village in Dumbriguda Mandal, Visakhapatnam district. The marijuana was divided into seven packets, each weighing 2 kilograms, and packed in bags. They bought the marijuana at Rs 5,000 per kilogram, intending to sell it at higher prices for profit.
The trio planned to transport the marijuana to Hyderabad and sell it to a buyer named Tribhuvan Gopal Rawar, who is involved in the city’s marijuana trade. They boarded an RTC bus but became nervous about police checks on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Fearing arrest, they got off the bus midway at Choutuppal and went to the RTC bus station. While waiting on the platform, they contacted their buyer to inform him about the situation and awaited further instructions.

Acting on a tip-off, the LB Nagar Zone SOT police arrived at the Choutuppal RTC bus station. They approached the suspects, searched their bags, and found the seven packets of marijuana. The suspects were detained on the spot, and during interrogation, they confessed to transporting the drugs. They provided detailed information about their operation.
The police seized the marijuana packets, along with three mobile phones from the suspects. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs 4.01 lakhs, as per CI Manmath Kumar.
