Hyderabad: A farmhouse in Janwada, Telangana, was raided by the Cyberabad Police Special Operations Team on Saturday night. The farmhouse is said to belong to Raj Pakala, brother-in-law of former state minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR). The raid happened after locals made complaints. During the raid, around 30 people were found partying, and police seized large quantities of foreign liquor.
The police conducted drug tests on everyone present at the party. One of the attendees, Vijay Madduri, allegedly tested positive for cocaine, while the rest tested negative. A case was registered against Vijay Madduri for drug use. Raj Pakala was also charged for allowing his property to be used inappropriately. He has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Excise Act.
Later that same evening, the police searched three more properties. These included Villa No. 4, which is KTR’s residence in Rayadurgam, Villa No. 5, owned by Shailender Pakala, and Villa No. 40, belonging to Raj Pakala. The searches caused tension when BRS leaders reportedly tried to stop the police, questioning the legality of conducting searches without official warrants.
The raid has led to a political controversy. Opposition leaders from Congress have called for a full investigation into the incident. BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, accused the state government of protecting BRS leaders while pretending to enforce the law.
The BRS party, however, responded by claiming that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was trying to falsely implicate KTR. They argued that the claim of the property being a farmhouse was part of a campaign to smear KTR’s image.
