Hyderabad is gearing up for the IPL T20 cricket matches scheduled on March 27 and April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The city police are working on a security and crowd control plan to ensure the safety of everyone attending the matches.
A total of 2,800 personnel from various police units will be deployed, including Rachakonda Police, Telangana State Special Police, Armed Reserve, Octopus, mounted police, and traffic police. Additionally, 360 surveillance cameras will be used along with anti-sabotage checks to enhance security during the matches.
A joint command and control center has been set up to monitor CCTV video for quick intervention if needed. Anti-sabotage checks will be carried out continuously until the end of each match. SHE Teams will also be present to prevent stalking and harassment of women, while ambulances and fire tenders will be on standby at the stadium.
Armed police will be strategically positioned in and around the stadium, with gates opening three hours before day matches and at 4:30 pm for night matches. Certain items such as laptops, water bottles, banners, lighters, cigarettes, and binoculars are not allowed inside the stadium during matches.
In preparation for the IPL Match, traffic diversions will be in place between 4 pm and 11:50 pm. Heavy vehicles from different routes will be redirected to ensure smooth traffic flow. The TSRTC will also run over 60 special buses to transport fans to the stadium from various parts of the city during the matches.
Special RTC buses will operate on specific routes to and from the stadium, making it convenient for fans to attend the matches. Controllers and enforcement squad teams will be available at Uppal Stadium to assist passengers before and after the games.
