Hyderabad: With just 48 hours left for the Ganesh idol procession and immersion on Tuesday, the Hyderabad City Police are ramping up their final preparations to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the event. Along with the Ganesh festival, the police are also preparing for other upcoming events, including gatherings at Public Gardens and Parade Grounds, and the observance of Milad-un-Nabi, which celebrates the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.

On Sunday, C.V. Anand, the Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad City, held a video conference with all zonal Deputy Commissioners of Police, Station House Officers, and the Patrol and Blue Colts teams. During this meeting, he discussed the challenges ahead and highlighted several important aspects that need to be considered when making security plans. CP Anand stressed the need for security measures to begin immediately, emphasized the importance of gathering intelligence, and asked for a detailed action plan to be in place. Blue Colts and patrol teams were instructed to increase patrolling, especially in narrow lanes and areas with mixed communities.

CP Anand also mentioned some of the issues faced last year and underlined the importance of a strong traffic management plan. He pointed out that busy areas like Basheerbagh and MJ Market need special attention, as vehicles from different routes converge at these points. He asked the Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to encourage festival organizers to transport Ganesh idols on time and to make sure all necessary logistical support is provided.

Other key instructions were given regarding the accommodation of police forces, briefing of external units, and setting up communication systems. The police were also instructed to conduct anti-sabotage checks, monitor social media, and use SHE Teams, drones, and camera-equipped vehicles for better surveillance. Additional police platoons will be strategically placed throughout the city. There were also detailed discussions on the arrangements for the Milad-un-Nabi procession on the 19th of September.
