Authorities attempted to demolish an arch and main gate at Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom in Shivrampally on Wednesday as part of road widening works. The religious institution’s management opposed the demolition and prevented authorities from pulling down the gate and main entrance arch. Islamic Scholar Maulana Mohammed Hussamuddin Sani Jafar Pasha, Ameer-e-Millat-e-Islamia, arrived at the scene and took strong exception to the officials’ behavior. Officials assured the road widening would be done without disturbing the gate or arch.

Maulana Jafar Pasha pointed to the State government and administration for taking the decision to demolish mosques and madrasas for different purposes without consulting. He warned of a massive protest if the government fails to tackle such issues and save religious structures. Maulana Jafar Pasha called on Muslim leaders to stand with them and raise their voice against the actions of the authorities. The Mailardevpally police posted a picket at the site to prevent any untoward incident.
