Rail passengers in Hyderabad, especially those in the Northeast area, will soon have access to new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS phase II) routes starting on March 6th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Sanathnagar-Moula-Ali railway line doubling and electrification works, as well as six new station buildings. He will also launch the new MMTS train service in the suburban section between Ghatkesar and Lingampally at an event in Sangareddy.

The phase II project, approved in 2014, is a joint effort between the Ministry of Railways and the Telangana government. The project faced delays but is now completed. This project will ease congestion on busy railway sections and improve train punctuality and speed.

The Sanathnagar-Moula-Ali section has been doubled and electrified as part of the MMTS phase II project. The 22-km project cost Rs 343 crore and includes six new station buildings. Passenger trains will now operate on this section, which was previously only used for freight trains.

The new MMTS train service will connect Eastern and Western parts of Hyderabad, benefiting students, small business owners, and employees. This expansion extends MMTS services in the twin cities from 90 kms to 123.52 kms.
