Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong critique of the Congress party, saying that it still has a colonial mindset even after India gained independence. During his speech in the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi asked several pointed questions to highlight the Congress party’s connection to British influence.

One of his main points was why the Congress, when in power, did not revise or replace colonial-era laws like those in the Indian Penal Code. He questioned the party’s commitment to getting rid of colonial legacies and stressed the importance of updating laws from the British rule.

PM Modi also criticized the Congress for not renaming prominent landmarks that still have colonial associations, like Rajpath. He wondered why the party was reluctant to make symbolic changes that would show a break from the colonial past.

The Prime Minister also mentioned traditions that seemed to continue British influences, such as presenting the budget at 5 pm, which matches the British Parliament’s schedule. He argued that these practices should have been abandoned and questioned why the Congress didn’t do so during its governance.

Furthermore, PM Modi targeted the Congress for keeping the red beacon culture, a symbol of privilege and hierarchy. He questioned why this practice continued for so long after independence and saw it as a failure to dismantle colonial symbols and traditions.

During his speech, PM Modi highlighted the symbolism behind his decisions, like changing Rajpath to Kartavya Path. He believed that such changes were necessary to move away from the British-inspired mindset that he thought still lingered.

In conclusion, PM Modi accused the Congress party of perpetuating a colonial mindset and not making significant changes in various aspects of governance and symbolism, even after India gained independence.
