The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) celebrated the completion of its campus development project in the second phase. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually dedicated the project to the nation on Tuesday. The campus now includes new buildings like an international guest house, convention centre, technology incubation park, knowledge centre, sports and cultural complex, students’ hostels, and various academic and administrative buildings. The total value of these additions is Rs 1,089 crore.
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan encouraged students to give back to the country. She praised IIT Hyderabad for its excellence in technology and innovation, ranking in the top 8 for engineering and top 3 for innovation. She mentioned the development of low-cost ventilators by IITH’s innovators as a personal memory and expressed confidence in more such initiatives contributing to India’s progress.
Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman of the board of governors at IITH, emphasized the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. He stated that the new campus sets high standards for educational institutions in India with the goal of becoming a top-100 global institute in the future. Professor B S Murty, IITH’s director, shared that the campus dedication was a proud moment for the entire IITH community.
Sachiko Imoto, senior vice president at JICA, highlighted the successful collaboration between India and Japan in education and technology during the dedication ceremony.
